Members of this language family are spoken in North Africa, the horn of Africa, and Southwest Asia. There are over 200 languages in the family spoken by about 200 million people. The Semitic sub-family is the largest (and best known) and are spoken in Southwest Asia, the Arabian peninsula and across the whole of North Africa.
