Czech

Spoken in the Czech Republic.

Czech resembles Slovak, the language of the Slovak Republic. The Slovak language evolved in the nineteenth century so that today, the two languages still have only slight differences. Slovak has a more archaic sound system, whereas Czech has fewer inflections .

Czech differs from some other Slavic languages in intonation , the stress on the first syllable of each word, the absence of missing vowels or syllables at the ends of words, the use of the Latin alphabet instead of the Cyrillic, the exceptionally free word order, and the prominence given to r and l . The characteristic ringing, but separately spaced, sounds distinguishes it from other Western Slavic languages.
