Niger-Kordofanian Languages

Includes most of the languages spoken in sub-Saharan Africa. Many of the languages are in the Niger-Congo branch; the most widely known subgroup is Bantu (Swahilli , Zulu, Xhosa, Kongo, Rwanda, Makua). Sometimes Zulu and Xhosa are considered to be dialects of the same language.

Only Swahilli is likely to heard on the shortwave bands. Stations from Africa can often be heard in the evenings on the tropical band (in Europe).
